  1. boulderactive 08 ended yesterday… i came to learnt that a malaysian climber was denied to enter the final after one of the judges had mistakenly mark his cleaned route as not finish.
maybe you think that it was a simple mistake. but bare in mind that the climber had traveled there to support the game organised by you.
and i was informed that when he approached the organiser for an explanation, the only reason given was that the said judge was not there to comment.
for me it was just an excuse.
please realised that the climbers had pushed their limits and strength in a game that they love.
i hope that this would be a lesson for you, the organiser.
please make sure that the judges perform their duties responsibly.
and please have the courtesy to acknowledge the climbers’ efforts and give due respect to their ability.

  2. Dear Sue,

Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that this has happened. We do take conscientious effort to ensure that all the route judges are competent to carry out their duties and that the scoring is just. We also give the judges the discretion to exercise their judgment and the chief judge with the final veto power. Contrary to your perception, we never regard any mistakes as ’simple’. I believe there were adequate avenues for appeal and the various cases of successful appeals is an affirmation that we do take climbers’ appeal into consideration.

Nevertheless, we will not ignore your feedback. However, we also do not wish to judge based on secondary account. If possible, it would be great if you could get the said climber to email us directly at nusclimb@gmail.com to provide more details. In the meantime, we will also investigate on our part.

    Thanks Sue! (:

  3. thank you for the prompt reply…
i would ask the said climber to email you the details.
however since the competition is already over, i hope that this experience would teach us to be more alert in future.
