Climbing Club

CSC LogoNUS Climbing Club was established in 1989 to promote rock climbing as an adventure sport to the rest of the NUS population. The club started off by holding climbing trips to Dairy Farm and we have gone a long way since. Today, we have a bouldering gym within the campus to call our own and a membership base of over 500.

While the club’s vision to raise the profile of sport climbing in NUS and to develop a dynamic climbing culture within climbers in the NUS community has not changed over the years, we have advanced to promoting the sport to beyond the varsity population. Every year, the NUS Climbing Club promotes sport climbing through introductory courses for the varsity population and public, as well as through weekly recreational climbing activities on campus. In addition to that, we also organise free climbing clinics for children and teenagers as a form of reaching out to the community.

To set some buzz into the local climbing scene, we also organise our flagship annual national bouldering championships - Boulderactive. This competition, together with other climbing events organised by the other institutions, will provide a platform for local climbers to engage one another in as well as for novice climbers to gain exposure.

With all these in hand, the NUS Climbing Club has established herself as a club that is consistently at the forefront of the sport’s development and will continue to do so in the many years to come.
